Hungarian cavalry sabre of Transilvania 1848

AN reproduction of an Austrian-Hungarian
hussars sabre.
It commemorates the merger of Transilvania
(away from Romania) with Hungary in 1848,
bearing the following inscriptions:PRO DEO ET
PATRIA.PRO PATRIA ET LIBERTATE
VITAE.PATRONA HUNGARIE VIRGO
MARIA.JOSEPHO BEM DUCI IN TRANSILVANIA
KOLOZSVAR 25.XII 1848.The sword has a slightly
curved steel blade, 87 cms./34.1/2″ long.It has a
steel scabbard with 2 carrying rings.Its three bar
hilted brass handguard is similar to mid
European swords of the 19th century, its grip has
a leather lining bound with twisted brass wire.
Total length (including scabbard) is 107 cms/42″.
Weight : 2 kgs/ 4.4 lbs.
